  ENTRY PRE-REQUISITES

Entry Pre-requisites for APP First Officer

Applicants for the APP First Officer course must be 17 years of age to attend the Skills Assessment. They must have a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above and these must include English language, mathematics and either physics or double science. Overseas applicants must have the equivalent of the above or higher. A-levels are not required; however, many airlines give hiring preference to those who have A-levels or otherwise meet university entrance requirements. Neither OAA nor any of the airlines require applicants to have university degrees.

Entry Pre-requisites for Airline Cadet Programmes

OAA works in partnership with several airlines who pre-select applicants for First Officer positions before training commences. Applicants must apply online to these programmes through the OAA web site. The programmes open several times a year and we advertise them on our home page and in Flight International magazine when the application is open. We publish the requirements for each scheme when the application is open, but they require either two A-levels or university entrance eligibility in your home country. Most of the schemes require an A-level in mathematics and another in a science subject and a university degree is advantageous.

Entry Pre-requisites for Modular ATPL Ground School

OAA offers ground school courses for the JAA ATPL(A) and ATPL(H) theoretical examinations by Distance Learning or on full time Classroom Based Residential study basis. Applicants must have a valid PPL issued by an ICAO member state and a JAR-FCL Class 1 Medical certificate. No academic pre-requisites are given, though a strong foundation in mathematics and physics will ensure the student is adequately prepared for the course work.

Entry Pre-requisites for the Waypoint Pilot Programme

Applicants desiring to enrol on Waypoint must have completed OAA’s Modular ATPL(A) ground school by either the Distance Learning or CBR course and must have passed all 14 theoretical exams achieving an 80% average or higher. They must meet the following additional requirements:
