FLYER PROFESSIONAL FLIGHT TRAINING SHOW AN OUTSTANDING SUCCESS

Flyer Show

Oxford Aviation Academy showed a fresh face to almost 800 aspiring pilots at the Flyer Professional Flight Training Show that ran on Saturday April 19th at the Renaissance Hotel, London Heathrow. The new stand was generally credited to be the most stunning display booth at the event, and OAA staff was inundated with enquiries about the much admired APP First Officer™ training programme and the range of ab-initio training offered by one of Europe’s leading Flight Training Organisations.

The Flyer Show 'Briefing Rooms' were also a huge success with OAA giving an insight into expanding global employment opportunities and also to females looking to become a part of the aviation world.

For those who couldn't make the show, please go ahead and order a 2008 Skills Directory to find out more information about all the courses we have to offer. Alternatively, why not phone one of our training advisors on 01865 841234 to talk in detail about professional airline pilot training or arrange a personal tour here at OAA Oxford. We look forward to seeing some new, as well as familiar faces in the near future!

LATEST GRADUATION CEREMONY OF COURSES AP258 - 262 AT OXFORD AIRPORT

On Saturday 23rd February 2008, the latest graduation ceremony for courses AP258 - 262 took place at Oxford Airport. The Guest of Honour for the event was Captain John Monks, Flight Manager Pilot Recruitment, British Airways. Held in the same Hangar as the Open Day presentations, it was all hands on deck to turn what is usually a home for our aircraft, into a magnificent venue for the graduation ceremony - and the end result certainly didn't disappoint!

Graduates and their families gathered to celebrate their success and achievements during their time at OAA and Captain John Monks gave a short and encouraging address to our graduates. Alex Lewton gave a Vote of Thanks on behalf of all those present, as well as those who couldn't attend the event due to their new job commitments as airline pilots!

After the formalities, staff, students, graduates and their families enjoyed a celebratory meal, before the evening disco and dancing commenced, lasting till the early hours of Sunday morning.

A few images of the evening are placed below. Please click on them to view the full-size versions.

OAA OPEN DAYS CONTINUE TO BE A GREAT SUCCESS FOR HUNDREDS OF PROSPECTIVE PILOTS

Skills Assessment

Nearly one year on from the first Airline Pilot Training Open Day, the success of the events, held on-site at Oxford Airport, continue to go from strength to strength. The latest Open Day had a staggering 400 visitors, all of which received a presentation on aspects such as the new company, the course and career opportunities, before having the chance to visit the facilities OAA has to offer.

Commenting on the open day, Anthony Petteford said, "We were delighted to have such a large turn-out for this latest open day at Oxford Airport and the first under our new designation of Oxford Aviation Academy. The high calibre of the prospective students that attended the event demonstrates that OAA’s APP First Officer training provides the premier commercial pilot training scheme and sets the bench mark against which all other schemes for ATPL qualification must be judged".

More Open Days have been planned for 2008 and we encourage anyone interested to book their places as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. For the latest seminar and Open Day dates, information on the day's events and how to book your place, please click here.

APP FIRST OFFICER - FOUNDATION DEGREE IN AIR TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT WITH AIRLINE PILOT TRAINING

A new foundation degree in Air Transport Management with Airline Pilot Training was launched on the 21st July. The partnership between Oxford Aviation Academy (OAA) and Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College (BCUC) provides a unique course in the industry.

The course will be delivered over 67 weeks and is considerably shorter than the two years normally taken for a work-based foundation degree. Moreover, the regular monthly intake makes this course unique within the aviation training industry. It is designed to provide students undertaking OAA’s prestigious Airline Preparation Programme (APPFO) Integrated Airline Transport Pilot’s Licence (ATPL) course with both an academic accreditation and an enhanced understanding of the airline business.

The scheme, introduced with full airline support and endorsement, means that students will, in future, graduate with a Foundation Degree in Air Transport Management with Airline Pilot Training - to complement their frozen ATPL.

FIRST NETJETS COURSE STARTS TRAINING AT OXFORD

NetJets Aircraft at Oxford Airport

Earlier this year, Oxford Aviation Academy announced that NetJets Europe had entered an agreement to train up to 48 students a year for the fast developing airline.  This agreement was a first, for NJE’s established policy has been  to recruit only experienced pilots as First Officers for their exciting but challenging role of providing a fractional ownership service for VIPs, senior business executives and the like.  NJE’s new policy is based on placing highly selected students on OAA’s internationally recognized APP FO course, with some aspects tailored specifically to meet NJE’s specialist needs.  These include a unique, combined MCC and Jet Operational Conversion course on a new generation CRJ simulator planned for installation in Oxford’s Multi-Pilot Jet Training Centre early next year.

First Course of NetJets Students at OAT

The first selection process for the new scheme was carried out at Oxford and in Lisbon in March, resulting in 18 successful candidates being accepted by the airline.  The first group of 6 have now joined AP275 course, which started training at Oxford at the end of May.  To mark the occasion, NetJets’ Director of European Operations, Chris Randle, joined OAA’s Managing Director, Anthony Petteford, staff and students in a small celebration to mark the event.  The first graduates from the new scheme will join NetJets in September of next year.
