FLYER PROFESSIONAL FLIGHT TRAINING SHOW AN OUTSTANDING SUCCESSOxford Aviation Academy showed a fresh face to almost 800 aspiring pilots at the Flyer Professional Flight Training Show that ran on Saturday April 19th at the Renaissance Hotel, London Heathrow. The new stand was generally credited to be the most stunning display booth at the event, and OAA staff was inundated with enquiries about the much admired APP First Officer™ training programme and the range of ab-initio training offered by one of Europe’s leading Flight Training Organisations. The Flyer Show 'Briefing Rooms' were also a huge success with OAA giving an insight into expanding global employment opportunities and also to females looking to become a part of the aviation world. For those who couldn't make the show, please go ahead and order a 2008 Skills Directory to find out more information about all the courses we have to offer. Alternatively, why not phone one of our training advisors on 01865 841234 to talk in detail about professional airline pilot training or arrange a personal tour here at OAA Oxford. We look forward to seeing some new, as well as familiar faces in the near future! |

To support the forthcoming launch of the new Flybe Assisted Sponsorship Scheme, Captain Ian Cheese - General Manager Turbo Prop Fleet, Flybe, came to visit Oxford Airport on Wednesday 17th October in a Flybe Bombardier Q400 aircraft.
The aircraft was on the ground for approximately 4 hours, giving OAA students a unique opportunity of being able to visit and look around the Q400 during its stay.
This was the first time that the airport has seen the largest independant regional airline come into land at Oxford. The scheme will be launched formally at the FLYER Professional Flight Training Show at the Renaissance Hotel, Heathrow, on 3rd November.
A new foundation degree in Air Transport Management with Airline Pilot Training was launched on the 21st July. The partnership between Oxford Aviation Academy (OAA) and Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College (BCUC) provides a unique course in the industry.
The course will be delivered over 67 weeks and is considerably shorter than the two years normally taken for a work-based foundation degree. Moreover, the regular monthly intake makes this course unique within the aviation training industry. It is designed to provide students undertaking OAA’s prestigious Airline Preparation Programme (APPFO) Integrated Airline Transport Pilot’s Licence (ATPL) course with both an academic accreditation and an enhanced understanding of the airline business.
The scheme, introduced with full airline support and endorsement, means that students will, in future, graduate with a Foundation Degree in Air Transport Management with Airline Pilot Training - to complement their frozen ATPL.

GCAT Flight Academy today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Oxford Aviation Training (OAT) from parent company BBA Aviation plc for a total consideration of $63 million (£32 million). The deal is backed by GCAT Flight Academy's majority shareholder, STAR Capital Partners.
Specialist European investment fund Star Capital Partners have over £1 billion of equity under management and made their first investment in the flight training industry in February 2007 through the acquisition of a majority stake in General Electric Commercial Aviation Training (GECAT) and the entire share capital of SAS Flight Academy from SAS AB. The new group was named GCAT Flight Academy and overnight became the largest flight training organisation in Europe and the third largest in the world.
Earlier this year, Oxford Aviation Academy announced that NetJets Europe had entered an agreement to train up to 48 students a year for the fast developing airline. This agreement was a first, for NJE’s established policy has been to recruit only experienced pilots as First Officers for their exciting but challenging role of providing a fractional ownership service for VIPs, senior business executives and the like. NJE’s new policy is based on placing highly selected students on OAA’s internationally recognized APP FO course, with some aspects tailored specifically to meet NJE’s specialist needs. These include a unique, combined MCC and Jet Operational Conversion course on a new generation CRJ simulator planned for installation in Oxford’s Multi-Pilot Jet Training Centre early next year.
The first selection process for the new scheme was carried out at Oxford and in Lisbon in March, resulting in 18 successful candidates being accepted by the airline. The first group of 6 have now joined AP275 course, which started training at Oxford at the end of May. To mark the occasion, NetJets’ Director of European Operations, Chris Randle, joined OAA’s Managing Director, Anthony Petteford, staff and students in a small celebration to mark the event. The first graduates from the new scheme will join NetJets in September of next year.
